Tex Plastics has embarked on a process of change within its manufacturing facilities using lean manufacturing principles to bring about efficiency improvements. Lean Manufacturing begins with the customer & focuses on the elimination of waste & the creation of flow. Its purpose is to reduce cost & variation to improve responsiveness by making the most effective use of our people & process. The origins of Lean are derived mostly from the Toyota production system. TEX Plastic Products, the Barnstaple division of TEX Injection Moulding secured a new contract with a UK based premium Aircraft Seating manufacturer. It involved a complex suite of 19 tools producing 38 parts, which will fly on Business Class Aircraft early 2009. Read More ..

The Company has entered into an agreement with the Department of Energy and Climate Change which commits us to a target of 12% reduction in Energy consumption between the 2006 Base Year and 2010.
We are already in the process of creating an Energy Plan detailing the actions necessary to meet the overall target. We will hold meetings with individuals and groups of employees as necessary to explain the plan and discuss what is required. The target set is very demanding and will require the commitment of everyone if we are to achieve it. More information can be found here

TEX Plastics Products in Barnstaple have successful completed the NVQ Level 2 Business Improvement Techniques for 5 of their Senior managers. They also have the Logistics Controller working towards NVQ Level 3 in Warehouse Management. Following the 5 managers they will be placing a further 4 Supervisory staff onto the NVQ Level 2 B.I.T training with a completion date expected of September 2010.
