£475,000 investment in robotics for Tex Plastics Derby
10 August 2016
The 1300-tonne Arburg Allrounder 420C Golden and Multilift Select, was part of an overall spend of £900k in new infrastructure across the two Tex Plastics facilities; Barnstaple; offering injection moulding in the South West UK; and Derby providing injection moulding across the Midlands. The key focus continues to be on automation to enable the company to reduce our direct labour spend.
High-performance linear robotic systems provide a high degree of flexibility for plastic component manufacturers
The machine and robotic system can be intuitively programmed to implement any insertion and removal task. Complex handling tasks are made easy because it has individual axis configuration and freely programmable pick-up and set-down patterns.
How does this benefit you?
- Fast machine and robotic system set-up mean short set-up times
- Thermoset processing equipment ensures high part quality
- Large parts can be manufactured, with shot weights exceeding two kilograms achievable
This has opened up our moulding capacity at our Derby facility
A lean manufacturing philosophy means looking at the way the business can be streamlined. So in addition to this purchase, we have also invested a further £150,000 on two replacement precision plastic moulding machines at Derby and this programme of investment and modernisation is being replicated at Barnstaple.
