Plastic injection moulded street furniture advertising
27 July 2018
Working with a leading manufacturer of street furniture, Tex plastics were able to help them develop products which could hold advertising media.
The key criteria for the plastic street furniture was using recycled plastic
Initially the street furniture designer and manufacturer wanted to move to a plastic injection moulding company who was able to produce high quality products using recycled plastics. Their need was for their products to be both ecological and aesthetically sound. Recycled ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) was the specified product and the sizes and ranges of injection moulded components differed greatly.
The design process went so well the team soon developed a frame system for advertising media
Having experienced working with Tex Plastics design and development team, the street furniture designers explained their concept to create a frame system. Street furniture is inherently located in high footfall areas and this had the potential to radically change their proposition. Not only would they be selling street furniture which was ecological and aesthetically sound – it could actually provide a revenue stream for the buyer.
The new innovative advertising frame system was developed and implemented
Working directly, the two design teams could quickly establish the key criteria. Benefitting from combining their relevant areas of expertise, the moulding design was quickly created and prototypes produced. Test sites were chosen to test the vandal proof aspects of production and installation. Following on from a successful testing phase, the new advertising street furniture range is being sold across Europe. The advertising frames can be used for paying media or simply to brand the street furniture with the customer’s logo.
