In-house Plastic Mould Toolroom Expertise
7 February 2022
Tex Plastics have appointed highly experienced Gary Shead as Toolroom Manager at their Derby facility. This continues the impressive investment programme and further boosts Tex Plastics in-house capabilities.
Toolroom investment in people, equipment and training
Tex Plastics have continued with the aggressive investment in a drive to offer more in-house. With the increase of injection moulding of intricate plastic components, having the in-house toolroom function to manage and maintain the increasingly complex moulds is essential. To keep up with this growing demand Tex Plastics have increased the size and capacity of their in-house toolroom, at their Derby facility.
Gary is a great addition to the Tex Plastics toolroom
Gary brings traditional toolmaking skills coupled with a breadth of sector moulding experience. As a time served tool maker, Gary started his career in industrial injection moulding tool making, working with white goods, automotive and packaging throughout his career. As an experienced Project Manager, Gary is also tasked with working with the team to introduce process improvements aimed at improving the speed of tool changeover to give greater flexibility for production.
Further toolroom expansion plans
“My remit is to expand the tooling department, optimise efficiency and reduce the supply chain for tooling, modifications and repairs. The recent investment in plant, personnel and training by Tex Plastics was one of the key attractions to this role. They have a great Tooling team and I look forward to growing the department to meet the customers changing needs.”
