Further investment in returnable packaging

Our initial investment in recyclable tote bins has proved a big hit with our customers.

Helping our clients reduce their products carbon footprint

Tex Plastics has significantly reduced the carbon footprint per plastic injection moulded component produced year on year. This has been achieved through applying our ‘3 Pillars of Eco Efficiency’ process consistency to continuously innovate how we do things to reduce our overall carbon footprint. Whether it’s been achieved by removing miles, reducing energy consumption or recycling more, the end goal helps our customers reduce ‘their products’ carbon footprint.

Removing miles, energy, waste and recycling more

Tex Plastics reviewed the environmental impact of its operations and created its 3 Pillars of Eco Efficiency Policy. This was a policy outlining how we could reduce our impact on the environment through reduced energy consumption; using recycled materials and recycling waste; and culture, making everyone in the business environmentally aware. As our business grows, we aim to reduce the environmental footprint of all aspects of our operations. The 3 Pillars of Eco Efficiency sets out our processes and methodologies for reducing greenhouse gas, water and waste. Plus clearly sets out our ambition to play a leadership role in the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

Tex Plastics is committed to reducing your plastic parts environmental footprint too

We’ve taken it one step further by reviewing how we can possibly help each of our customers reduce their carbon footprint. This means if they choose us as their provider we operate a simple 3 Point ‘A/B/C’ checklist. So we are moulding any part in the most environmentally friendly way possible. However, Tex Plastics believe we can help further reduce the environmental impact of injection moulding and here’s how:

a) What else could be moulded?

The lightweight nature of plastics means many manufacturers are choosing polymers as an alternative to metal for their products, including vehicles and aircraft, as the shift in weight has a direct positive effect on fuel and energy savings. So when we speak with a new customer, we want to understand how the plastic component functions within the context of their product and manufacturing supply chain.

b) Can we use recycled plastics?

Using recycled plastics in the injection moulding process is not only environmentally responsible, but it can also reduce the OEM’s material expenses. Any brand that is using recycled plastic in its industrial process can benefit from the public’s perception that the business is working to protect the environment. Ultimately, making use of recycled plastic in plastic moulding and other industrial processes is a beneficial decision at every level.

c) Can we reduce the miles?

With many complex products, there is often an equally complicated supply chain. Does the plastic part need painting, decals, sub assembly or some other added value service? Tex Plastics have helped many customers reduce their carbon footprint through Transport optimisation – removing unnecessary transportation because we provide these services in-house.

Plastic – a material used by everyone, every day.

We often hear about the many negative aspects of plastic, from the pollution, to the worries about the non-biodegradable nature of the material. Plastic is also used in ways helping to save and produce energy, through building materials and processes such as insulation and double glazing windows.
