Good Luck to Paul Quipp

Good Luck to Paul Quipp

Paul has been with Tex Plastics too many years to mention, and we thank him for his service as he retires at the end of March.

There have been a lot of changes in my time at Tex Plastics

I’m looking forward to my retirement and the freedom it will provide me, however I will miss the people here at Tex Plastics. Especially the team in the tool room, although I wouldn’t say that to them! Tool making is a skill which was nearly lost to the low cost Chinese and eastern Europeans not so long ago. But many companies have realised the benefits of good tooling design and proactive maintenance, and this has resulted in a resurgence of tool makers and tool rooms. Tex Plastics employ more people today, than any time in my illustrious career with them.

A trade based upon experience but with a need for young blood

It would be nice to see some younger people coming through and learning this valuable skill. I know that the management here is desperate to get some engineering apprentices to join the department. It’s a good place to work and there are lots of opportunities. I’ve seen a number of people start in low skill roles, but show a willing, get training which gives them options to move into different areas and broaden their experience and develop skills.

I’ll miss the people, but I’ve done my time and I’m looking forward to a summer where I can enjoy the freedom earned after too many years working!
