Fostering Respect: TEX Plastics Deepens Investment in Team Understanding

Building on a Foundation of People Power
At TEX Plastics, our bedrock has always been the power of our people. We recognise that our strength lies in our diverse and exceptionally loyal workforce, a true family forged over decades of shared experience. Our "home-grown timber" approach, a philosophy of nurturing talent from within and creating genuine opportunities for growth, has been instrumental in building this strong foundation. However, we also understand that as our team evolves, reflecting broader societal shifts, our understanding of each other must evolve in tandem.
Addressing the Nuances of Modern Communication
Recently, we made a significant investment in a company-wide training day, focusing specifically on the nuanced impact of seemingly innocuous “banter.” In today’s increasingly multicultural workplace, coupled with rapidly changing societal attitudes, we acknowledge that what might be intended as light-hearted or humorous can, inadvertently, cause unintended hurt or offence. This initiative was never about adhering to fleeting trends of political correctness; it was, and remains, a demonstration of our genuine and unwavering care for every member of our team.
Creating a Safe Space for Dialogue
We structured the training day around small, interactive workshop-style sessions, allowing our 200 employees to explore, in a safe and supportive environment, how even seemingly harmless comments can affect individuals in profoundly different ways. Our primary goal was to create a space for open, honest dialogue and mutual understanding, ensuring that every employee feels genuinely respected, valued, and included.

This initiative was not designed to be a punitive exercise, nor was it about pointing fingers or policing language. Rather, it was about fostering a deeper sense of empathy and cultivating a workplace where everyone, regardless of background or experience, feels comfortable and secure. We have always prided ourselves on our comprehensive investment in the individual, and this training is a natural and logical extension of that core commitment. It reinforces the principle that personal growth and professional development are intertwined with fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
