One Company, One Standard

One Company, One Standard

TEX Plastics is undergoing a significant transformation as part of its ‘One Plastic Company’ strategy—an initiative designed to unify its Derby and Barnstaple facilities under a stronger, more coordinated operational structure.

For customers, this shift brings substantial benefits: greater consistency, clearer communication, improved scheduling, and above all, a single, harmonised quality standard that covers both manufacturing sites.

Centralised Roles and Unified Planning for Greater Customer Responsiveness

A key element of the transformation has been the centralisation of production planning and operational roles, enabling TEX Plastics to operate as a single integrated organisation rather than two separate facilities. With shared oversight across sites, the company can now balance workloads more effectively, adapt more quickly to changing customer requirements, and allocate capacity based on real-time demand rather than site-specific constraints.

This centralised approach streamlines internal processes and gives customers:

  • Faster and more accurate scheduling
  • Improved lead-time reliability
  • A unified point of contact for production and quality
  • Enhanced responsiveness to urgent or shifting requirements

By breaking down operational silos, TEX Plastics has created a more resilient, flexible and customer-focused business model.

A Dramatic Shift to a Single Quality Standard Across Both Sites

Perhaps the most impactful element of the transformation is the transition to a single set of quality standards recognised across both TEX Plastics facilities. This demonstrates the company’s commitment to uniform excellence—regardless of which site manufactures a product.

TEX Plastics now holds shared certifications across its operations for:

  • EcoVadis Bronze
  • ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
  • ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety

These shared certifications ensure customers experience the same high levels of environmental responsibility, health and safety performance, and corporate governance, no matter which facility handles their products.

This move not only simplifies auditing and reporting for customers but also provides transparency and confidence that both sites operate to the same strict criteria.

9001: Site-Specific by Necessity, Unified in Purpose

The only standard that remains site-specific is ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems). This is not due to inconsistency but because the nature of TEX Plastics’ two facilities differs in function and capability.

  • Barnstaple includes specific operations like cleanroom and specialist medical moulding environments, and controlled manufacturing workflows.
  • Derby focuses on a wider range of moulding, complex assemblies and multiple post-mould processes, making certain elements of its management system necessarily unique.

ISO 9001 certification must be tailored to the processes present at each site. However, both facilities operate with the same overarching quality philosophy, shared continuous improvement focus, and unified leadership approach.

Delivering Clarity, Consistency and Confidence

The ‘One Plastic Company’ transformation marks a significant step forward for TEX Plastics and its customers. With harmonised standards, centralised planning and shared operational leadership, customers can expect:

  • Consistent quality across both sites
  • Greater efficiency and capacity management
  • Simplified supplier management
  • Improved compliance and sustainability reporting
  • A clearer, unified service experience

TEX Plastics’ commitment to operating as a single, cohesive organisation ensures that every customer—whether receiving products from Derby or Barnstaple—benefits from the same high standard of manufacturing excellence.

The transformation continues, but one thing is clear: TEX Plastics is building a stronger, more integrated, and more customer-centric future under its One Plastic Company vision
