Christine Jones launches new peer-nominated employee awards scheme at TEX Plastics Derby
Creating a Culture of Recognition Across TEX Plastics
At TEX Plastics, we believe that great businesses are built by great people.
That belief is the driving force behind our new bi-annual Employee Recognition Awards Scheme, which has been launched at our Derby facility to celebrate employees who consistently go above and beyond in their roles.
As HR Manager, I wanted to introduce a scheme that not only recognised exceptional effort and teamwork, but also reinforced the values and culture we are continuing to build across the TEX Plastics group.
The awards are designed to give employees the opportunity to nominate colleagues who they believe have made an outstanding contribution to the business, their team or our customers over the previous six months.
Linking Recognition to the TEX Plastics Core Values
What makes the awards especially important is that every nomination must explain how the employee demonstrated one or more of the TEX Plastics Group core values.
Those values — including Safety, Quality, Integrity, People, Teamwork, Leadership, Customers and Communication — were introduced across the group last year to help create a stronger shared culture and clearer sense of purpose throughout the business.
The awards are therefore about much more than simply recognising hard work. They are about celebrating the behaviours, attitudes and teamwork that define who we are as a company.
Whether someone has shown exceptional teamwork on the shop floor, demonstrated leadership during a challenging project, supported colleagues, improved customer service or contributed towards quality and safety standards, we want those efforts to be recognised.
Every employee receiving a nomination is awarded a certificate in recognition of their contribution, while the individual receiving the highest number of nominations receives an additional day off as a thank you from the business.

Supporting the “Home Grown Timber” Philosophy
The awards scheme also strongly reflects the TEX Plastics “Home Grown Timber” philosophy.
As a business, we are passionate about developing people internally, supporting career progression and creating opportunities for employees to grow within the company. We are extremely proud that many of our managers and senior leaders have progressed through the organisation over many years.
That long-term investment in people is one of the things that makes TEX Plastics such a rewarding place to work.
The recognition awards are another way of reinforcing that culture. They help employees feel appreciated, encourage positive behaviours and demonstrate that contributions at every level of the business matter.
Importantly, the nominations come from colleagues themselves. That peer-to-peer recognition creates a genuine sense of teamwork and shared appreciation throughout the business.

Investing in People Alongside Manufacturing Excellence
TEX Plastics has built a strong reputation as a UK technical injection moulding specialist with decades of manufacturing experience and a continued commitment to investment, innovation and sustainability.
Across the business, there is ongoing investment in modern manufacturing technology, energy-efficient machinery, operational improvements and environmentally responsible production processes.
However, none of that investment succeeds without skilled, committed and motivated people behind it.
For me, that is why recognising employees is so important. Businesses succeed when employees feel valued, respected and connected to the wider goals of the organisation.
By linking the awards directly to our core values, we are helping ensure those principles become part of everyday working life across TEX Plastics.

The response to the scheme so far has been incredibly positive, and it has already highlighted the number of people across the Derby facility who consistently make a difference every single day.
From supporting colleagues and improving processes to delivering exceptional standards for customers, the nominations have demonstrated the strength of teamwork and commitment that exists throughout TEX Plastics.
As the company continues to grow and invest for the future, maintaining that positive culture and recognising the people behind the business will remain incredibly important.
