Why Career Development Matters at TEX Plastics

Why Career Development Matters at TEX Plastics

Supporting employees to grow through the company’s “Home Grown Timber” philosophy

Developing Talent from Within the Business

At TEX Plastics, investing in people has always been just as important as investing in machinery, technology and manufacturing capability.

The company’s long-standing “Home Grown Timber” philosophy is built around recognising potential within the workforce, developing skills internally and creating genuine long-term career opportunities for employees across the business.

That commitment to career development is now being demonstrated through the progression of Marlena Zembrzuska, who has recently begun an apprenticeship programme to develop into a Quality Engineer role within TEX Plastics.

Marlena originally joined TEX Plastics in 2018 as a machine operator, gaining valuable hands-on experience within the company’s manufacturing operations. Over time, her commitment, attention to detail and willingness to learn highlighted her potential to progress into quality engineering.

Recognising and nurturing that talent is exactly what the company’s development philosophy is designed to achieve.

Building Manufacturing Knowledge Through Apprenticeship Training

As part of her progression into quality engineering, Marlena is currently undertaking the EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills) through The Engineering Trust.

The qualification is designed to provide a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production quality and engineering processes within a modern manufacturing environment.

Key areas of the programme include:

  • Preparing for manufacturing operations
  • Controlling manufacturing operations
  • Analysing inspection results and confirming production quality
  • Understanding manufacturing standards and procedures
  • Developing problem-solving and process improvement skills
  • Supporting quality assurance within production environments

The course combines both theoretical learning and practical workplace application, helping apprentices understand not only how manufacturing processes operate, but also why quality systems and controls are critical to successful production.

Expanding Experience Beyond the Machine Operator Role

Marlena’s existing experience as a machine operator gives her an excellent foundation for developing into quality engineering.

Having worked directly within production since joining TEX Plastics, she already understands the realities of day-to-day manufacturing, production pressures, process consistency and the importance of maintaining high standards on the shop floor.

The apprenticeship now allows her to build on that operational knowledge by developing a deeper understanding of quality systems, inspection procedures and manufacturing analysis.

This progression helps bridge the gap between production and quality functions — something that is incredibly valuable within technical injection moulding environments where consistency, precision and traceability are essential.

By understanding both the operational and quality sides of manufacturing, Marlena will be able to contribute more effectively to continuous improvement, problem solving and maintaining the high standards expected by TEX Plastics customers.

Supporting Long-Term Careers in UK Manufacturing

For TEX Plastics, creating opportunities like this is an important part of building a sustainable and skilled workforce for the future.

The company has always believed that some of its strongest talent comes from employees who understand the business from the ground up. By supporting career progression internally, TEX Plastics not only retains valuable experience but also helps employees build rewarding long-term careers within manufacturing.

Many individuals across the business have progressed into leadership, technical and specialist positions after beginning their careers in operational roles.

That investment in people continues to strengthen TEX Plastics as a leading UK technical injection moulding company with decades of experience supporting customers across multiple industries.

Alongside ongoing investment in manufacturing technology, energy efficiency and operational improvements, the business also recognises that developing skilled people remains critical to long-term success.

Creating Opportunities for the Next Generation of Talent

Marlena’s progression demonstrates how important it is for manufacturers to actively support learning and development opportunities within their workforce.

Apprenticeships and vocational training not only benefit individual employees but also help strengthen the wider manufacturing sector by developing practical engineering and quality skills that are increasingly valuable across UK industry.

At TEX Plastics, career development is not viewed as a short-term initiative — it is part of the company culture.

By continuing to invest in people, skills and internal progression opportunities, TEX Plastics is helping ensure the business remains competitive, innovative and well positioned for the future while creating an environment where employees can continue to grow and succeed.
