The new machine will run 24/7 The small component is required for a critical NHS product and is a key part in a new precision plastic injection moulding cell infrastructure at Tex Plastics. The cell will include some downstream automation packaging which will keep labour in the production process to a minimum. Higher quality standards less disruptive supply chain This contract would have most likely been moulded off shore in greater volumes to achieve the price point. However post cover, Brexit and the uncertainty of freight routes, the client looked at the pro’s and cons of having their moulded plastic parts manufactured in the UK. New electric injection moulding cell designed around the product The volumes required for the new product enabled Tex Plastics manufacturing design team to develop a manufacturing cell specific to the fulfilment of this contract. The selection of an all electric injection moulding machine was both performance-oriented and cost-efficient. The high-precision, adaptable machine means Tex Plastics can achieve competitive unit costs at all times. The cleanroom facility is to expand at Barnstaple to accommodate increased orders. Cleanroommanufacturing now adds new 300 tonne machine The manufacturing cell currently houses two 100 tonne machines, with a new a 300 tonne machine on order, the cleanroom facility will be able to significantly increase injection moulding production capacity. Especially when the new shift 5 day week, 3 shift pattern is introduced. With the ability of 24/7 production and the new machine the cell has capacity for further increases in volumes should this area of the business continue to grow. Cleanroom Injection Moulding Class 7 Cleanroom manufacturing cell for injection moulding and component assembly of non-sterile medical products operating at ISO Class 7/8. In addition to our expansive white room manufacturing capability, the increased cleanroom manufacturing capacity for components will offer a fully validated EN14644 class 7 (10,000) cleanroom, staffed by fully trained operatives. Although this area is currently being used for predominantly medical component manufacture, it could be used for other sectors where a cleanroom environment is required.
